MASERU- LDF FC head coach, Malefetsane Pheko, has expressed concerns over the impact of Lehlohonolo Matsau playing as a right back for the national team. Matsau, who is the team’s key anchor at LDF FC, has been struggling to perform his usual role at the club after returning from national duty.
In a post match interview Pheko said, “When Matsau comes back from the national team, he becomes very defensive on the field and his passing is poor. This is because he plays as a right back for the national team, which is not his natural position.”
The coach further explained how the position switch disrupts Matsau’s rhythm and affects LDF FC’s performance.
“I even showed him during one of our matches where he was not fulfilling his role as an anchor. This change of positions is really affecting us as a team,” he added.
Matsau is an important player for LDF FC, but his struggles to adapt after national team assignments are a growing concern for the club.
