MASERU- It was a pivotal moment for Bantu FC this past weekend when they finally defeated LMPS FC in a league encounter after years of trying.
In this six-goal thriller, LMPS went down 4-2, and the caretaker coach of the victors, Kabelo Malapane couldn’t be more happier.
“I told the players that the mentality of losing to LMPS must be completely eliminated,” Malapane said.
“In football, we don’t work like that,” he continued.
Bantu had to come from a goal down to claim a goal-infested victory.
“It is time to reclaim the dignity of Bantu Football Club. With the quality we have, I don’t think any team will defeat us easily.
“I’m not saying we’ll not be defeated, but we won’t be defeated easily,” Malapane said.
He also disclosed that he was afraid that the departure of James Madidilane might have an impact on the players.
“I was afraid that mentally, it will affect the players, but when I saw them in training on the first day, the second and third day, the spirit was very high,” he stated.
“James loves Bantu very much. Even after leaving, he keeps on encouraging us to work hard,” Malapane concluded.
On the other hand, the losing coach Tiisetso Molete conceded that Bantu outsmarted them in the midfield, and his team could not play.
“Going forward, we were not okay,” Molete said.
“Like any other team, they (Bantu) saw how we played, and they planned (on it),” he said.
Bantu visits Lifofane on Thursday in a catch-up game in Botha- Buthe.
Kickoff is at 16:00hrs.
