PULUMO RUBBISHES “WIN-AT-ALL-COST “ TACTICS

MASERU- For the longest of times, coaches and athletes have been accused of resorting to malicious tactics in the name of prioritising victories.

As such, at the crowning of Beavers at the 2024 ERL, the PRO of Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC), Jobo Pulumo said that he hopes that the coaches did not for cutthroat means in order to win.

This he said just before handing over the trophy to the back to back champions, Mabote Beavers this past weekend.

“I want to thank you coaches, if you are not using “winning at all cost” tactics,” Pulumo said.

“This means that competing teams trained well to be here today,” he continued.

This practice has often compromised the welfare and safety of athletes. The coaches and athletes have often been encouraged to draw the line, and not make winning the sole purpose of sport.

Sill upholding the competitive attitude, they (coaches) are often advised to remember that winning is not more important than the athletes themselves.

At the same event, Pulumo also thanked the parents of the athletes for continuing to let their children take part in sports; rugby in this case.

“It is very difficult I know to let boys and girls your age go and not be home at this time. It means that they (parents) still trust the president (Fetang Selialia) with the safety of their children.”
